Outreach & Volunteer Coordinator
The Cat’s Meow is seeking a professional individual to coordinate the volunteer program for our cat adoption center in Anacortes.
Responsibilities include – but are not limited to –
- Consulting with Executive Director and Board to determine the organization’s need for volunteer services;
- Recruiting new volunteers;
- Responding to inquiries from potential volunteers in a timely manner;
- Reviewing new volunteer applications;
- Screening, interviewing and placing volunteers in appropriate programs and activities;
- Orienting and coordinating training for new volunteers;
- Maintaining volunteer database;
- Tracking key data and preparing reports on volunteer activities;
- Attending monthly board meetings to report on volunteer activities;
- Creating written materials for volunteer program, including volunteer job descriptions, volunteer questionnaires, manuals, orientation and training materials;
- Monitoring volunteer satisfaction and performance;
- Creating and implementing a volunteer recognition program;
- Communicating volunteer opportunities and program accomplishments to inspire and motivate volunteer commitment;
- Speaking to community groups;
- Coordinating public outreach and/or fundraising events (the Cat's Meow maintains a booth staffed by volunteers at the Anacortes Farmer’s Market every Saturday from mid-May through mid-October);
- Planning and coordinating special events;
Qualified individuals will possess the following skills and characteristics:
- Excellent oral and written communication skills;
- Ability to work successfully with many different personalities;
- Ability to inspire and motivate other individuals;
- Able to leap tall buildings in a single bound;
- Excellent organizational skills;
- Self-motivated and able to work without direct supervision;
- Ability to successfully manage and prioritize multiple tasks;
- Excellent computer skills in basic software programs (internet, word processing and spreadsheet programs);
- Service-oriented attitude;
- Comfortable and skilled with public speaking;
- Ability to communicate diplomatically and effectively with other agency personnel, volunteers and the general public;
- Ability to lift 50 pounds (occasionally you may be required to transport equipment to or from events);
- Professional appearance and manner;
- Commitment to the vision and mission of the Cat’s Meow.
Applicants must possess a valid Washington state driver’s license.
This is a part-time position (20 hours per week). Wage is commensurate with experience. Benefits include a flex schedule and the possibility of working from home.
